First-Year, Summer Entry

For students entering in June or July

Orientation sessions for first-year, summer-entry students are one-day programs held in June and July of each year.

Admitted students receive a mailer from our office containing everything you need to know to prepare for the New Vols Experience: Orientation this summer. We look forward to having you join us and welcoming you to the Tennessee family!

Step 1: Confirm Your Enrollment

You must confirm your enrollment by paying the $250 enrollment deposit prior to registering for orientation.

Orientation Dates for Summer Entry Students

  • May 30, 2017
  • July 7, 2017

Costs include all orientation programming and materials and meals on campus for students and parents, depending upon the length of the orientation program you attend.

  • Students: $50
  • Parents/Guests: $20
  • There is a $10 fee charged if you need to change your registration date.

Refund Policy Refund requests must be made in writing at least ten working days prior to your confirmed orientation session. Please note that a processing fee will be subtracted from your refund amount. Orientation for first-year students entering in the summer semester is a one-day program held on May 30 or July 7. For parents and guests, these orientation sessions are full of useful information to support your student and their transition from high school to college.

All students participating in the Volunteer Bridge Program are required to attend orientation (July 10-11, 2017 or July 17-18, 2017).  After confirming your acceptance of the program, you will receive more information about the program. To register for to attend the Volunteer Bridge Program orientation, click on the “Register for Orientation” link below.

The cost for students to attend the two-day Volunteer Bridge Program orientation will be $200 for students and $50 for each guest.

If you are a Volunteer Bridge Program participant who is also a Tennessee Promise student, you will receive information about Tennessee Promise while at your Volunteer Bridge Program Orientation on either July 10-11 or July 17-18.

Step 2: Confirm Your NetID and Password

Once you are admitted to the University of Tennessee, you will be assigned a Network ID (NetID). Your NetID is the username associated with your accounts for the University of Tennessee. It also makes up the first part of your university e-mail address: You will need your NetID and password to login to register.

Step 3: Register for Orientation

Registration for orientation is now open.

Check the schedule above in the “Dates” section and then log in using your NetID and password. See step 2 (above) for information about your NetID and password.

Reservations are made on a first-response basis, so please read the information carefully and respond as soon as you can.
